Fils d’un paysan, il grandit aux cotés de ses quatre sœurs et ses deuxfrères. A l'instar des jeunes kabyles de son âge, Da Rezki est appelé très jeune à subvenir avec ses frères aux besoins de leur famille ainsi à l’âge de quinze ans il assurait parfaitement un rôle de responsable de famille. Au milieu des années quarante le monde vit une crise sans merci et en Kabylie gagner sa vie est un dur labeur au quotidien. Pour surpasser les difficultés de la vie quotidienne Da Rezki puise un soutien moral dans la musique à laquelle il consacrait une partie de son temps. Ainsi, il assistait assidûment à tous les événements festifs et artistiques de la région et ratait rarement les soirées de mariages animés par AREZKI MOHAND ACHERIOU qui était alors son idole. Il se rendait à pieds avec ses amis jusqu'à MIRABEAU (DBK) et à BOUHINOUN, deux villes qui se trouvent à plus de trente km de son village pour avoir le bonheur d’admirer ce virtuose de la mandoline et son percussionniste ALI OUSSAADI. Arezki ne tarda pas à former une petite troupe musicale au sein de Tarihant avec ses camarades notamment BOUSSAD MOHAMED dit CHAMBITE qui jouait de flûte, Arezki jouait du Bendir. Ils faisaient rêver tous les adolescents de leur village qui trouvaient dans les mélodies d’Arezki et ses copains un répit salutaire à leurs longues journées de labeur.
