You've got a very good english ! I have some questions about the foreign language in Algeria. When do you start to learn english at school (the age please not the level because I don't have a good knownledge about the algerian education) ? And the french language ?? What language is compulsory at school and what it could be optional ? And do you have people who take the spanish language ? In France for example, in my time, the option for the first language depended of the place you were living. In Paris, we had to choose between english and german for the first language but I know that in the south, they had an option between english and spanish or in the north between english and dutch (néerlandais). After this, for the second foreign language, we had more options but those who hadn't chosen english at first had to take it for there second (compulsory). So first language at 11 and the second at 13 years old. Citer

Your funny way to write english (it's not to laugh at you, I'm also a "marble" in english) has made me think about the "message" language (SMS) based on the phonetic spelling. So my question is for the specialist, as Djamal, I would like to know if the "message language" is free in english ?! And what is it name (how to translate SMS) ? I know only the "R" for "are" or the "U" for "you"... Thanks ! Citer

I don't know of any acronym for text message; it seems to me i've heard it using as verb : I'm text-messaging him. Citer

This is hard to explain as the situation becomes even more confusing with the second foreign language the student has to choose as a second language. I would say it as it is. As for the second foreign language, English would be compulsory had we not chosen it at first; otherwise, all the choices remain open. I would say part of France instead of place, what do you think? parts of france; different parts of France ect... A separate thread for different ways to communicate via sms would be of great help. Thanks ; Citer
